Sonja Bella is an artist based on the NSW Central Coast, inspired by the natural world and the subtle energies it holds. Drawing on the rhythms and patterns of nature, and in particular, the ever-changing moods of the ocean, Sonja creates mandala-inspired art that speak to the harmony and interconnectedness of all life.

Her creative process is guided by intuition, allowing her to channel the essence of natural forms into symbolic and meditative pieces. Each work is a peaceful reflection on the sacred unity between humans and the natural world – a reminder that we are not separate from nature, but part of its living, breathing rhythms.

Spending more than 20 years in graphic design, Sonja brings a professional eye for composition, colour, and balance to her work. This design sensibility infuses her mandalas with structure and a fine balance. Her work combines a range of mediums – including ink, watercolour, and acrylic paint – and flows between crisp linework and soft, layered washes. This blending of technique with spontaneity results in stunning, vibrant pieces that evoke movement, energy, and calm.

Sonja’s art practice is also rooted in wellbeing and connection. She shares her creative journey and techniques through her YouTube channel, encouraging the exploration of art as a path to personal healing and mental clarity. Through painting and teaching, Sonja is passionate about fostering an inclusive art community and celebrating the joy that creativity brings into our lives.

As a member of the Central Coast Creatives Collective, Sonja recently participated in the Central Coast Creative Spaces program, co-exhibiting with fine artist Sahra Bull. Their two-week exhibition included a collaborative community mural, reflecting Sonja’s belief in the power of shared creative experiences.
